Frequently Asked Questions

Resident and Commuter plans can be purchased through the Whitworth housing office. Contact Alan Jacob at ajacob@whitworth.edu.

Yes, please contact Whitworth Housing.

Each meal plan contains a set number of Meals and Flex Dollars. The meals are used in the Dining Hall. You will use one meal per entry. Flex Dollars are used in any of our dining locations just like cash.

Meal reset every Friday morning before breakfast. Meals do not roll from week to week. Rather, you will receive your full number of weekly meals. If you run out of meals, you can pay for a meal with flex dollars, cash, or credit card. You can also upgrade your meal plan or purchase Pirate Bucks.

Flex Dollars are part of your meal plan and are used just like cash in any dining location on campus. Pirate Bucks can be added to your Campus ID card if you run out of Flex Dollars or you do not have a meal plan. With every Pirate Buck purchase, you get a bonus… that’s free money!

YES! We serve vegetarian options in all our locations and at every meal in the dining hall. Vegan options are also offered. Can’t find what you are looking for? Customize a meal using ingredients from multiple stations or talk to a member of our leadership team.

Our campus dining services program can accommodate your special dietary requirements. We provide a variety of allergen friendly options on our menu daily. Additional options are provided upon request. If you feel that you cannot find what you need, simply reach out to our team. We will work one-on-one with you to customize a dining program. For more information, please contact our Executive Chef, Chris Garr, at christopher.garr@sodexo.com, or our Resident Dining Manager, Dan King, at daniel.king@sodexo.com.

For a to-go meal, purchase our Choose to Reuse to-go program. You will receive a to-go box that can be used as long as you are on campus. This to-go program is a great option if you cannot make it to a meal or you don’t have a lot of time to eat.

For $5, you will receive a reusable to-go box. When you enter the dining hall, tell our cashier that you will be having a meal to go and swipe your ID card. You can fill the box and exit the dining hall. You will not be permitted to sit in the dining hall with the to-go box. Once you have enjoyed the meal, simply scrape out the leftovers and return the box for a clean one. If you don’t want to carry the box with you, you can exchange it for a carabiner. When you are ready to eat, give the carabiner to the dining hall cashier and receive your to-go box.

Sustainability and controlling waste is a top priority for your dining team. With no garbage cans, we can see the food that is coming back on plates and use it to make future menu decisions. Additionally, we use data driven purchasing practices, menu planning systems, and food waste tracking systems to reduce our impact. Our ability to ensure that our composting/recycling practices are strictly followed, and not contaminated with garbage is another reason we do not have garbage cans in the dining hall.
